Our Grant Programs

Overview

The Foundation runs three grant programs to support projects or programs that fit within the Foundation’s mandate of encouraging and promoting legal education, legal research, legal aid services, law reform, and developing/maintaining law libraries.

Currently, our three grant programs are the following:

  1. Small Grants Program:
This program supports small, one-time projects that can be completed within a year. The projects should create something or provide a service that can be continued without further funding from the Foundation. The maximum amount you can request under this program is $50,000.
  2. Project Grants Program:
This program helps with specific projects that don’t fit the criteria of the Small Grants Program. These projects might require more than a year to complete or more funding that the $50,000 maximum available through the Small Grants Program.
  3. Core Operating Grant Program:
This program provides funding for the day-to-day operations of organizations. To apply for this funding, the organization must have already successfully completed several projects and/or delivery of programming using funding received from the Foundation. Note that core operating grants are reviewed each year with no guaranteed of continued funding in future years.

If a project requires more than a year to succeed, the Foundation might approve funding for two or more years. Any multi-year funding is subject to the Foundation continuing to have enough resources to fulfill the grant.
