Mandate
The Manitoba Law Foundation was created in 1986 under The Legal Profession Act to encourage and promote the following objects through its grantmaking:
- Legal Education
- Legal Research
- Law Reform
- Legal Aid Services; and
- The Development and Maintenance of Law Libraries
Mission
We are committed to advancing legal knowledge, fostering excellence within the legal profession and facilitating community understanding of the justice system. We fund programs and initiatives that promote and enhance these commitments.
Strategic Priorities
- Increase Access to Justice in Remote and Northern Manitoba
- Increase Access to Justice in Rural Manitoba
- Enhance the Foundation’s Profile
Additional Granting Priorities
Legal education, legal research, legal services and/or legal supports, and law reform activities that address:
- French language legal services and supports; and
- Systemic discrimination experienced by racialized and marginalized groups in Manitoba’s legal systems.
